Job Description:
This role is to join the Cyber Security team and lead/actively progress the ICT Security Strategy within Primark. This position will work across software and hardware teams to identify component and system level technical risks, identify and evaluate critical failure points, determine technical security controls to mitigate risks, prioritise and schedule controls with product development timelines, and work with cross functional teams to implement features according to product roadmaps.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provides architectural guidance and leadership on best practices regarding security in software development, user interface design frameworks, high performance messaging solutions, server side development, integrations, tools and technologies
- Works with the business and systems teams to identify the right architecture for implementing new solutions, products and modules
- Contribute to the development and evolution of the application and infrastructure security reference architecture. Develop, implement and maintain the security architecture
- Serve as the technical contact point for security related incidents and provide post-mortem analysis. Risk analysis, risk management, and communication of results
- Perform vulnerability research, assessment and management, serve as technical security/risk advisor on all new technology
- Act as a SME in the discovery and investigation of critical security vulnerabilities
- Identify and evaluate critical failure points, determine technical security controls to mitigate risks, prioritize and schedule controls with product development timelines, and work with cross functional teams to implement features according to product maps
- Maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies / products / trends related to security architectural solutions
- Provides thought leadership in IT strategy, development models, cost-optimisation, innovation and efficiency improvement
- Provides detailed guidance to multi-functional teams through project planning and other large collaboration efforts. Fosters an environment of open communication and problem solving
- Develops long term vision of technologies and solutions. Collaborates with IT leadership in planning and implementing of technology roadmaps.
- Assists the team in researching solutions, solicits input from outside industry experts and recommends solutions to meet business requirements
- Ability to provide direction and take design ownership for projects which is delivered by a highly technical team that supports a complex environment
- Responsible for identifying cross directorate and cross project dependencies, risks and activities and negotiating resolution to conflict
Job Requirements:
- A proven and demonstrable track record with an architectural focus
- Demonstrable knowledge of good cyber practice and industry trends
- Strong knowledge of switching, routing and wireless products; security testing and assurance; severity assessment and risk management; threat modelling
- Knowledge of security standards (OWASP, NIST, SANS, etc), hardening procedures and network security
- Expertise in Cloud computing security, including mobile App security
- Security audit, vulnerability assessment and packet analysis skills
- Security management certificates (CISSP, CSSLP, CISM, etc)
- Educated to degree level in a Computing or business discipline (or equivalent)
- Significant experience in the development and evolution of the application and infrastructure security reference architecture
- Support Legal and Commercial in purchasing decisions to the benefit of Primark
- Negotiate with key stakeholders involving prioritisation of projects and resources.
- Experience of mission critical High Availability design and deployment in large transaction volume environments
- Previous experience of managing complex integration projects in a highly pressurised environment is a prerequisite
- Experience of setting and managing project development with a wide range of vendors to support solutions in a multi-country environment
- Previous experience of managing large scale development projects is essential.
- Ability to present complex security topics to a wide range of internal audiences (engineers to executives)
