Job Description:
Johnson & Johnson Law Department is currently recruiting for a Patent Manager to provide support for the pharmaceutical group within Janssen Research & Development, Johnson & Johnson’s worldwide pharmaceutical sector R&D organization. This position will be located in Spring House, PA.

Job Responsibilities:
- The candidate will be expected to provide patent application drafting and office action response support, perform computer-based literature and structure searching in chemistry, pharmaceutical and related art groups, and help manage invention disclosure and international patent dockets.
- In addition, conducting freedom to operate, competitive analysis, patentability assessments, and patent training are key tasks that the ideal candidate will provide for supporting a dynamic organization.
- The candidate should be able to work independently, balance multiple job tasks, prioritize tasks well, and be comfortable writing technical documents.
- They will regularly attend research group meetings, meet with scientists and engineers, and participate in patent review meetings.
Job Requirements:
- Registration as a United States patent agent is required.
- At least 3 years of experience as a patent agent is required.
- Ability to write and speak well in English is a requirement.
- Good office, organizational and presentation skills is required.
- Less than 10% travel required.
Qualification & Experience:
- The candidate must be proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Exhibits extensive knowledge of database searching tools and demonstrates ability to generate reports. Performs and assists R&D personnel with performing validity, patentability, landscape and freedom to operate searches is required.
- A Masters or Ph.D. in organic chemistry or related degree is required.
- At least 2 years of laboratory experience is required.
