Hobby Lobby Job Application – Photographer

Job Description:

This Photographer position specializes in lighting and capturing high-end commercial images for Hobby Lobby corporate collateral and web. Tasks include lighting set up and both in-studio and on-location shoots for inspirational craft pamphlets, social media posts, product, packaging, branding, corporate collateral, various marketing platforms and more–as well as color correction, organization and maintenance of all digital art files. This position collaborates with team and key stake holders to capture high-quality images with strong artistic sensibilities that satisfy a diverse array of projects to best represent Hobby Lobby. Job Responsibilities:

• Collaborates closely with Stylists and Coordinators to meet client’s needs
• Maintains current knowledge of design and technology trends
• Completes edits, clones, retouches and additional editing adjustments on digital images
• Follows all procedures for photography equipment
• Prepares print and digital files based on specific job requirements
• Contributes to team effort by fulfilling responsibilities with a positive attitude
• Maintains a clean and orderly work station and set spaces
• Produces a high volume of digital images while maintaining exceptional quality
• Follows all Warehouse procedures
• Maintains consistent and organized digital workflow
• Prepares for in-studio and on-location shoots by determining lighting and other requirements
• Completes all assignments on time according to art direction and the needs of the client and target customer
• Captures high-quality images with strong artistic sensibilities to satisfy a diverse array of projects
• Works closely with peers and sets a tone of partnership between teams
• Identifies and informs Supervisor of photography equipment maintenance needs
• Corrects color of digital photographs from photo shoots and digital art files in order to closely match real-life tones of product or original artwork according to art direction and/or the Hobby Lobby aesthetic
• Works closely with Supervisor to ensure required photographic aesthetics are delivered
• Adapts to additional duties and tasks
• Learns new techniques, tools, and technology as required
• Follows all Art/Creative safety policies and procedures including the proper use of PPE (personal protective equipment).
• Works with and directs models while on set
• Prepares proofs for approval
• Ensures images are labeled, organized, stored, and archived appropriately upon editing completion

Job Requirements:

• Ability to work alone or with a team
• Strong understanding of technology and equipment, including cameras, lenses, lighting and specialized software
• A strong eye for visual composition
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Able to occasionally be exposed to fumes, airborne particles and/or potentially hazardous materials
• Basic knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Adobe Bridge
• Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks without effecting quality or polish
• Ability to accept and apply critique and feedback
• Ability to perform Key Responsibilities as described with or without accommodation
• Basic understanding of design and print/web design
• Ability to self-start and work under minimal supervision
• Ability to repetitively push and pull
• Ability to repetitively lift up to 20 pounds while bending, stooping and climbing up and down ladders or stairs
• Strong time-management skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
• Strong understanding of still photography, lighting techniques and principals of commercial photography
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to sit, stand and/or walk for long periods of time
• Ability to take professional quality photographs
• Ability to work in variety of indoor, outdoor and warehouse conditions
• A solid understanding of production techniques including separation, layering, and color management
• Excellent attention to detail
• Proficient Mac and Microsoft Office Skills
• Ability to perform job duties at the corporate office in Oklahoma City (Accommodation for location flexibility, such as telecommuting, is not available.)
• Expert level Adobe Photoshop skills

Qualification & Experience:

• 5 or more years professional photography experience
• Bachelor’s degree in photography or related field required
