Job Description:

Reporting to the Director, Operations Planning, the Manager, Operations Planning -SOC is a key resource responsible for leading SOC’s efforts to improve operational performance by developing mitigation strategies and by working with multiple branches to ensure corrective actions are taken.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Act as SOC lead in periodic review of weight critical / restricted flights and provide input into any proposed changes to our operational and commercial planning assumptions.
  • In conjunction with Director, Operations Planning provide seasonal briefings to SOC employees as well as various airport management teams.
  • Co-chair weekly “Ops Readiness” meetings to ensure effective communication of close in Schedule outlook and all related requirements.
  • Complete Monthly Schedule Summary and play pivotal role in developing the report and acting as a key point of contact for SOC on the content.
  • Represent SOC on New Routes Planning Committee. Responsible to highlight potential road blocks, report on branch readiness, and track operational performance through route maturity.
  • Provide ad hoc business case input, supporting data and interpretation for Senior SOC management team. Actively participate in meetings and offer input on data interpretation and usage.
  • Utilize data visualization tools to provide useable intelligence to support strategic decisions by Senior Management.
  • Collaborate with Business Intelligence department on operational improvement projects with a focus on providing an operational and SOC-centric perspective.

Job Requirements:

  • Understanding of airline operations preferred, ideally within the context of a large network carrier.
  • Knowledge of Air Canada’s route Network
  • Strong analytical and applied logic skills.
  • Self-starter and demonstrated ability to implement process change initiative taking skills and work in an unstructured environment
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Creative problem solver who thinks strategically, is results oriented and attentive to details.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and short deadlines

Qualification & Experience:

  • High degree of creativity, innovation and resourcefulness in the context of data analysis and airline performance evaluation
