Job Description:

As VP of Technology for Air, you will be delivering the future of air travel at Expedia. You will be responsible for the design and execution of the technology strategy for air. Your mission is to deliver compelling new customer-centric features, content and services through our technology that enable the growth of the air business. You will work in partnership with the product leadership team to create a world-class traveler experience and grow the air business. This position requires a standout technology leader with search (selection and ranking) and discovery systems experience to lead our engineering team. You will work with key partners across Expedia Group to establish and drive the technology roadmap for the Air platform. You will be responsible for this critical marketplace expansion and build our next generation of commercial grade systems. This role is game changing for Expedia and career making for you. You are a technology leader with next generation complex system experience; able to manage through a high level of complexity; and scale system that manage at least 100B events a day.

The position requires working closely with peers across various lines of business and all brands within Expedia Group to build new and improve the air product and experience. As a result, you will need to be a practiced negotiator and a creative problem solver capable of building consensus across a large global organization.

Job Responsibilities:

• Grow the air business by creating and communicating the technology vision to all stakeholders, and then drive execution to make that vision a reality.

• Lead global, cross-functional teams to conceive and develop new product concepts, establish development milestones, and run the development, implementation and subsequent rollout;

• Key member of the Air Leadership and Transportation Leadership team for Expedia Group, working in closer partnership with Data Science, UX, Analytics, Product, Engineering, Strategy and Supply. • Well-respected leader in Technology, and acting as a role model for all employees in areas of Architecture, Machine Learning & Data Science Search Algorithms.

Qualification & Experience:

• Creative thinker with extraordinary technology, analytical, management and relationship skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; simplify, clarify and succinctly convey complex information and ideas to individuals at all levels of the organization
• Must be well versed and experienced with consumer technology and/or eCommerce business.
• Strong communication skills to both simplify and dive deep into situations. This includes both verbal and written communication.
• 15+ years of successful software development leadership with experience in Search technologies as well as mobile & web-based products;
• Proven excellence leading diverse functional and globally dispersed teams in high-impact initiatives that deliver meaningful business results.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a strong bias for action; Be self-directed and able to move forward in a somewhat ambiguous environment.
• Curious and highly analytical, adept at using data to uncover hidden customer needs and deeply understand key business drivers.
