Job Description:
The Global Payment Networks (GPN) team sits within COO, Cards and Payments area and works alongside key units across Barclays, and is responsible for managing the interactions with the global Payment Networks, such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners, JCB and China Union Pay.
As part of this team, you will have the opportunity to shape the relationship Barclays has with the Payment Networks, and will have responsibility over a wide range of important initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the commercial elements of all contracts, ensuring payments are made at appropriate times
- To build, maintain and own the internal and external relationships in relation to these contracts, and look for opportunities to enhance and grow these relationships further
- Work closely with the Payment Networks to ensure robust contractual processes are in place to maximise the effectiveness of the Payment Networks’ contracts.
- Support Scheme Relationship VP’s in managing the relationships with the Payment Networks such as Visa and Mastercard.
- Establishing strong relationships with internal stakeholders and represent the GPN team in regular business reviews, whilst identifying areas of opportunity.
- Managing the contractual relationships with the global Payment Networks ensuring stakeholders are delivering against contractual commitments.
- Managing and tracking the operational performance of Payment Network related activities, through accurate monitoring of key metrics and reports
- Accountable for managing activities across multiple business units and legal entities, ensuring contractual alignment with the broader strategic roadmaps.
Job Requirements:
- Problem solving and competitor awareness at industry level
- Understanding of the payment networks related drivers of income and costs
- Strong analytical and commercial skills and the ability to work through MI
- Excellent interpersonal skills with prior experience of relationship management of internal and external stakeholders, across seniority levels.
Qualification & Experience:
- Capable of representing Barclays on internal and external working groups and influencing/negotiating, where appropriate.
- Capable of supporting the business on key client meetings
- Flexible and willing to work as part of a team and be able to refocus given broader team priorities.
