Morrisons Job – Ethical Trading Specialist

Job Description:

We are looking for an Ethical Trading Specialist to join our Corporate Services team at our Head Office in Bradford. We’d love you to join us and play a part in our growing success story.

What this role will be doing…

The Ethical Trading Specialist will be responsible for providing expert advice, guidance and support to ensure that significant human rights risks in our business and supply chain are identified and mitigated through effective delivery of the Morrisons Ethical Trading Policy.

The successful candidate will work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver a strategy to meet objectives, drive improvements and monitor/report progress. You will provide dedicated advice and guidance to Suppliers, Technical Managers and Commercial colleagues, enabling them to support ethical trading and sustainable sourcing initiatives in their countries of operation. The Ethical Trading Specialist will represent Morrisons on relevant external working groups, ensuring our strategy & direction is consistent with sector best practice.

Job Responsibilities:

• Influencing and managing internal stakeholders to achieve the common goal of improving ethical trading standards in the Morrisons business and supply chain.
• Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels to build understanding and influence purchasing decisions.
• Staying up to date with ethical trading trends and emerging human rights issues to support & influence the development of Morrisons’ ethical trading strategy
• Supporting the Ethical Trading Manager in the development of future strategy to reduce inherent risk in our own-brand supply chain.
• Supporting the Ethical Trading Manager with the completion of internal and external reporting requirements, including our Modern Slavery Statement, ETI Perspectives submission and
• Corporate Responsibility Report.
• Developing and delivering colleague and supplier training resources and activities covering Morrisons ethical trading requirements and emerging risks, issues and trends.
• Involvement on behalf of Morrisons in ethical trading external programmes and networks, as agreed with the Ethical Trading Manager

Job Requirements:

• Excellent data analysis skills with keen attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of the Sedex platform for managing supply chain compliance
• Experience of working in an ethical trading or responsible sourcing role, ideally within the FMCG sector
• Knowledge/experience of mitigating the impact on sales & profit of reputational damage resulting from ethical issues in the supply chain
• Strong networking, influencing and communication skills

Qualification & Experience:

• Experience in compliance with the UK Modern Slavery Act.
• Experience of adding value to a business by providing objective ethical trading expertise to influence decision making
• Working with and influencing NGOs and external bodies – prior experience of working with the Ethical Trading Initiative is preferable.
