Job Description:

The United States Postal Service has the following challenging employment opportunities for highly motivated and innovative individuals. There are currently two Instructional Designer positions are available in Washington, DC, Norman, OK or domicile locations will be considered. The successful candidates must demonstrate through a combination of education, training, and experience the following requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Writes training materials including course curriculum, facilitator guides, participant guides, job aids and other content to meet training need and objectives. Provides recommendations on the most effective delivery modality.
  • Develops training curriculum to meet identified training needs using instructional design methodology through all phases of each project including analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation.
  • Works in partnership with subject matter experts to gather information needed to develop training content.
  • Writes learning curriculum utilizing an array of instructional design strategies that focus on innovative ways to deliver and deploy learning.
  • Develops training storyboards from the training design plan for customer and instructional designer review.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to develop instructional content compliant with Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) and Section 508 Accessibility requirements.
  • Ability to critically review and evaluate training materials and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Knowledge of the methods and practices of training design and curriculum development sufficient to write training curriculum.
  • Ability to communicate orally in order to develop working relationships with customers and employees in other functional areas.
  • Ability to independently design training curriculum from start to finish while ensuring training needs are met and standards are maintained.
  • Ability to communicate in writing in a succinct and organized manner; producing written materials, taking into account proper audience, content, format, and grammar.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Graduate Degree in Learning Design, Instructional Systems, Educational Psychology or a related training field from a college or university accredited by a national or regional accreditation organization recognized and sanctioned by the U.S. Department of Education that included at least 12 semester hours of course work in the following areas: 1) Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness; and 2) Instructional product development: Study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training. Applicants must attach a copy of transcripts validating completion of this coursework at the time of application in order to be considered.
  • Ability to effectively work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gain knowledge of subject matter and transform knowledge into effective learning solutions.
