Job Description:
If you have experience in designing and implementing large-scale, high-profile solutions in a fast-paced environment, we would like to speak with you. As a Solution Architect in Airline Operations, you will directly support the heart of our operation. The solutions you design enable the pilots, cabin crew, maintenance engineers, and airport teams who safely and reliably transport our guests across Canada and around the world.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with other architects, developers, SMEs, project managers, analysts, and business stakeholders to provide optimal solutions that are aligned with corporate strategies while being open-minded to other ideas and not driving a specific agenda.
- Present concepts to senior leaders as necessary, explaining technical items in an appropriate manner for non-technical audiences.
- Maintain thought leadership and contribute to the mentorship of others in a way that contributes to strategy and acts as a catalyst for change, as opposed to a barrier.
- Accountable for roadmaps (i.e. high-level views of technology and the organization from which plans are created and/or evolved). Roadmaps will include business growth opportunities via technology, functional areas to focus on and where to invest technology dollars, etc.
- Maintain strong knowledge of the technologies, techniques, and business concepts (as related to IT) used within the solution architecture domain.
- Track and evaluate emerging trends in domain knowledge area(s) and maintain a strong relationship with appropriate vendors in that space.
- Responsible for helping set and maintain architectural standards, as derived by corporate standards bodies such as Architecture Boards or equivalent.
Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated disciplined, method-driven execution.
- Leadership skills providing knowledge, mentorship, and technical guidance to other team members.
- Appropriate technical skills and experience, including experience architecting, implementing, and operating true mission-critical applications.
- Demonstrated understanding and execution of the full solution lifecycle (design, construction, implementation, management, and retirement).
- Strong inter-personal skills with the ability to respond tactfully to difficult scenarios and foster diplomacy in solutioning.
- Ability to stay abreast of industry/competitor trends and identify new technology risks, threats, opportunities, and challenges.
Qualification & Experience:
- Minimum 10 years related experience.
- Skilled and experienced in producing IT architecture artifacts. Experience with formal architectural frameworks such as TOGAF is an asset but not required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area of IT Technical, Business or Scientific domain.
- Extensive knowledge of IT applications and technologies, ideally focused on Airline Operations (including movement control, crew scheduling and enablement, aircraft maintenance and airport operations). Experience with Sabre’s Airline Operations suite is an asset.
