Job Description:

Directs, supervises, and reviews investigations involving complex issues of laws, facts, violations and compliance in industrial, commercial, governmental, retail, agricultural, public institutions, other business establishments as well as domestic service in households.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Interacts with the media, influential groups of national contracting officials, employee/employer organizations, associations and unions; maintain liaison with local, state, federal and other public institutions in order to exchange information concerning the requirements, interpretations and application of wage and hour related laws.
  • Plans, prioritizes, coordinates, and assigns the work of subordinates. Provides technical assistance, reviews all investigations conducted by the staff
  • Lead and/or conduct complex investigations which are of unusual or unprecedented nature that involves problems in coverage, exemptions, compliance, minimum wage and overtime issues.
  • Plans and implements an active educational program designed to promote voluntary compliance with the statutes administered by WHD.
  • Assists the District Director in directing and supervising all compliance and enforcement activities.
  • Oversees the training and development of new and current staff members, handles human resources issues pertaining to the staff all labor-management relations issues; assists in training and developing Investigators, prepares progress reports and evaluates their performance.
  • Coordinates with the Regional Solicitor, Office of the Inspector General and the U.S. Attorney’s regarding civil and criminal cases.

Job Requirements:

  • Requires a Supervisory probationary period if not already met.
  • Requires a valid drivers license.
  • Requires a probationary period if the requirement has not been met.
  • Appointment to this position may require a background investigation.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Applicants must meet time-in-grade (52 weeks at the GS-12 grade level), time-after-competitive-appointment (90 days) and qualifications requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the vacancy to be eligible for consideration for selection.
