Waitrose Careers – Product Design Manager

As Product Design Manager you will be managing a team of 6-8 highly skilled Product Designers and, on occasions, consultants and contractors, so having excellent planning and organization skills, along with a solid background in people management is key for this position.

• Use deep understanding of all aspects of the Product Design lifecycle including; Discovery, UX/Service Design and UI Design to develop the Product Design profession; growing and nurturing a strong team of Product Designers via guidance, direction and mentoring. Understanding the strengths within each member of your team to allocate resources in the most effective way and identify stretch opportunities that offer personal and professional development.
• As a digital expert and experienced people manager you will grow and nurture a high performing team of Product Designers via guidance, direction and mentoring.
• You will have a deep understanding of all aspects of the Product Design lifecycle and associated specialisms and use this to allocate resources in the most effective way to successfully deliver business outcomes and identify stretch opportunities that offer personal and professional development for your team.
• You will be expected to build and maintain strong relationships within Online and other key areas of the business, playing an active role in the creation of the Digital Proposition roadmap and then leading the planning, coordination and delivery of the associated activities.
• Accountable for planning, coordinating and delivering digital customer experience outcomes and associated initiatives through your team and the wider Product Design profession.

Job Requirements:

• Experience managing Product / UX / UI Designers in an agile environment and planning resources across matrixed product teams.
• Experience coaching and mentoring Product / UX / UI Designers.
• Deep understanding of all aspects of the Product Design lifecycle including; Discovery, UX/Service Design and UI Design.
